It’s finally Spring, and that means it’s a busy season for college students as they plan their sun-soaked events. Accordingly, the Tikkit team has been hustling and bustling, assisting our hosts with setting up events on campuses across the nation.

White Party | St. Anthony Hall

Trinity College in Hartford, CT was the setting of two recent concerts hosted by Greek Organizations at the school. On Friday April 6th, St. Anthony Hall hosted their annual “White Party” featuring CID, a Grammy award-winning DJ/producer from New York City. The Trinity DJ duo, WVLFPVCK, kicked off the concert with an opening set before CID took the stage.

St. Anthony Hall sold over 500 tickets to the concert and donated the proceeds to a scholarship fund created in honor of Evan M. Scollard, a member of the Trinity College class of ‘17 who passed away in March.

In the past, St. Anthony Hall ran this event without the benefit of a ticketing platform and funded the entire concert on their own. This is a common but dwindling method as more channels have become available to crowdsource events and raise money through ticket sales. The event was tremendously successful, selling 20% more tickets than in previous years. Between the great marketing efforts of St. Anthony Hall, and providing a fast pre-sale ticket channel that allowed students to quickly grab a mobile ticket, the show sold out! (You’ll find tips to sell out your event in an upcoming post 👍)

Spring Weekend | Psi Upsilon

A week later, during Trinity’s annual “Spring Weekend”, Psi Upsilon played host to another concert. The lineup featured Justin Caruso, a DJ/producer from Los Angeles, as the headlining artist and Poolhaus, an upcoming DJ duo of Trinity graduates. Psi Upsilon sold upwards of 1,000 tickets to the concert – making it one of the largest concerts hosted by a fraternity at Trinity. The fraternity credited Tikkit’s simplicity and ease of use to making the concert run so smoothly. From collecting ticket proceeds, to handling admission and security, the event went off without a hitch. Both Psi Upsilon and Tikkit are excited to see what they have in store for us next fall!

These two events are but a microcosm of a robust and thriving music scene at Trinity College. In past years, the college boasted concerts featuring many renowned artists in the electronic dance genre, including The Chainsmokers, Kygo, Louis the Child, Audien, Alesso, and Dirty South, to name a few. Beyond Trinity, the growing dominance of music performances at colleges across America has been tremendous. Performing at colleges has become an increasingly important stepping stone for upcoming artists; and while it can be expensive to bring talent to your event, Tikkit’s crowdsourcing feature makes it more feasible. Want advice on booking talent for your college party? Read our last post here. As Tikkit watches this trend, we expect to see an all-time high number of privately hosted concerts  on college campuses in 2018/2019. Stay tuned for updates on some exciting artists we’ll be showcasing this Summer.
